International Women’s Air & Space Museum

The International Women’s Air & Space Museum (IWASM) is dedicated to providing women and girls with opportunities to experience the wonder of science, technology, engineering, and math through engaging exhibits. This museum is located at 1501 N Marginal Rd Ste. 165, Cleveland, OH 44114. The museum strives to be a place that inspires girls to pursue careers in STEM and to encourage them to question everything they see around them. As the newest member of the Cleveland Science Center family, IWASM offers a unique opportunity for visitors from all over Ohio and nearby states to learn about space exploration from an international perspective. The museum is home to educational programs designed specifically for children and families, as well as adult programs that are appropriate for older guests who have difficulty following along with younger learners. History of the International Women’s Air & Space Museum

The International Women’s Air & Space Museum (IWASM) is home to the many women in science and engineering who have helped to shape the course of human space exploration. The museum focuses on the achievements and contributions of the first women in aviation and space, as well as the role those women played in shaping the future of the sciences. The museum opened in 2008 at a time when many women in science and engineering faced significant challenges. The museum was created by a small group of women who wanted to inspire the next generation of girls about science and engineering. The museum was envisioned as a place where women would be celebrated for their achievements and encouraged to pursue careers in the fields.

The IWASM Experience

When visitors arrive at the International Women’s Air & Space Museum, they are greeted by a welcome desk and a gift shop featuring a wide assortment of items, including apparel, books, posters, and science kits designed for children. The museum’s first exhibit, “We Can Do It: Women in Aviation,” explores the history of aviation and the many women who helped shape the industry. This exhibit is followed by “We Can Do It: Women in Space,” which examines the early days of aviation and early spaceflight and the contributions of the first woman to fly in space. These two exhibits are followed by a special gallery that explores the role of women in science and engineering throughout history, from rocket scientists and aviation pioneers to researchers who are helping to shape the future of robotics and artificial intelligence. The museum also features a special gallery focused on women in the STEM fields.

Educational Programs at IWASM

The museum’s educational programs are designed to inspire children to learn more about science and engineering. The museum has two programs designed for elementary school-aged children: “We Can Do It: Women in Aviation” and “We Can Do It: Women in Space.” These programs are followed by “STEM Exploration” for middle schoolers and “STEM Explorers” for high schoolers. The museum also has a special “Tech Trek” program for adults who have a difficult time following along with younger learners. This program takes adults through the museum’s STEM exhibits, including the “Tech Trek” gallery, which explores the future of robotics and artificial intelligence.

Final Words

In addition to the many educational programs offered at the International Women’s Air & Space Museum, Cleveland’s International Women’s Day Celebration is a popular event that celebrates the contributions of women in science, technology, engineering, and math. This celebration takes place in late March and features a variety of activities and events designed to celebrate women in STEM. The museum also partners with local community organizations, providing in-school programs and STEM-focused outreach events.
